His Lovingkindness, O How Great

Psalm 36:7: “How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.”

Psalm 42:8: “Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”

Psalm 63:3: “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.”

Psalm 143:8: “Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.”

Jeremiah 31:3: “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Samuel Medley (1738-1799) was a Particular Baptist preacher and hymn writer. He was appointed the pastor of a church on Byrom Street, Liverpool, where he served for twenty-seven years.
