The Holy Scriptures.

The Bible is an infallible Book, and in the noble words of Hooker, the writers “neither spoke nor wrote one word of their own, but uttered syllable by syllable as the Spirit put it into their mouths; no otherwise than the harp or the lute doth give a sound according to the discretion of his hands that holdeth and striketh it with skill.” Nothing less than such a Word will suffice to anchor the fainting soul upon in the day of trouble and in the hour of death, or to satisfy a parched and weary spirit, athirst for the water of life, and craving the shadow of the great Rock. On the evening of the 8th of August 2011, I was joined by my brother Marc to stay the night in the church building for the purpose of protecting the facilities from theft, vandalism and arson. Between the 6th and 10th of August, widespread riots, arson and looting was carried out across England. Approximately 3,000 people were arrested, 3,443 crimes committed, five people died, at least 16 people injured and an estimated £200 million worth of property damage incurred.

While sitting in the church office and watching the live news feed, it occurred to me . . .

The Faithfulness of God: Numbers 23:19: “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”; Psalm 89:1-8: “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
