AN ORDER OF SERVICE FOR DIVINE WORSHIP; DESIGNED FOR PRIVATE DEVOTIONS, FAMILY GATHERINGS AND CHURCH MEETINGS.

A Call To Worship

King David wrote in Psalm 93:1,2: “The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.”

Hymn—“It is the Lord Enthroned in Light”

Scripture Reading—Proverbs 16:5,6

”Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”

Opening Prayer

Hymn—“Glory To God The Father’s Name”

Sermon—“The Fear Of Jehovah”

——————————-
The series of studies on the book of Genesis will resume in September.
Some of the points covered in this sermon:
• Highlighting the four main parts of Proverbs 16:5,6—a twofold statement on the nature of the human race; a twofold statement on the certainty of judgment
• Underscoring the distinguishing marks of the non-elect
• Underscoring the distinguishing marks of the elect
• Underscoring the certain judgment of God upon the non-elect
• Underscoring the certain judgment of God upon Christ, on behalf of the elect
• Aligning the teachings of Proverbs 16:5,6 with the framework of sovereign grace
• Showing how the non-elect and the elect are to fear the Lord—the one are to fear Him as a criminal the judge, the other are to fear Him as a child the father

Hymn—“Jesus Paid It All”

Closing Prayer

Benediction

May the Lord bless you, and keep you; may the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
