{"id":1374,"count":1,"description":"William Perkins (1558-1602) was a sovereign grace preacher, theologian and writer. While serving as a cleric for the Church of England, he was sympathetic towards the non-conformists, becoming one of the leading voices for the Puritan movement during the Elizabethan era. He wrote more than forty books, among which is \u201cA Golden Chain: Or, The Description Of Theology\u201d. It explains the order of the causes of salvation and damnation, helpfully illustrated by a diagram which prefaces the work. He subscribed to a Supralapsarian view of God\u2019s decree. \r\n","link":"https:\/\/www.baptists.net\/history\/category\/william-perkins\/","name":"William Perkins","slug":"william-perkins","taxonomy":"category","parent":0,"meta":[],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.baptists.net\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories\/1374","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.baptists.net\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.baptists.net\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/taxonomies\/category"}],"wp:post_type":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.baptists.net\/history\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts?categories=1374"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
