In 1794 he was appointed pastor of the church meeting at Claxton, Norfolk, a position he held for fifty-five years. He opposed the heretical teachings of Andrew Fuller. His views were framed in a little book entitled, \u201cA Blow Struck At The Root Of Fullerism\u201d. He also wrote many hymns, some of which appeared in the Gospel Magazine under the signatures \u201cEbenezer\u201d, \u201cEliakini\u201d, and \u201cJ.
