Lines Written By Mary R. Bennett, On Completing Her 60th<\/sup> Year, Eight Months Before Her Decease<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another milestone has to me been given,<\/p>\n

Another landmark on the way to heaven,<\/p>\n

Now sixty have been numbered one by one<\/p>\n

Swiftly and silently I travel on;<\/p>\n

Why should my life so full of mercy be?<\/p>\n

Why has God given so good a lot to me?<\/p>\n

When sins oppressed my young and anxious mind,<\/p>\n

He turned my eyes to Jesus, made me find<\/p>\n

In Him my Saviour and my endless peace:<\/p>\n

And said to me that, when life here should cease,<\/p>\n

I should be with Him in the realms of bliss;<\/p>\n

Should know and love, and see Him as He is,<\/p>\n

All the long years of pain or grief or strife,<\/p>\n

This knowledge has made music in my life;<\/p>\n

And shall I now begin to tell of sorrows past?<\/p>\n

No! I will speak of mercy to the last.<\/p>\n

It cannot now be long ere I shall go<\/p>\n

To meet Him where the living waters flow,<\/p>\n

To see Him face to face whom I would see,<\/p>\n

And in His presence evermore to be;<\/p>\n

To meet the loved ones who are gone before,<\/p>\n

To praise my God with them upon that shore<\/p>\n

Where partings are unknown, where all is peace,<\/p>\n

Where love and joy and bliss shall never cease,<\/p>\n

Till then I wait His time: Lord, give to me<\/p>\n

That perfect peace which trusts my all to Thee.<\/p>\n

My dear ones now I put into Thy hand,<\/p>\n

Grant them to meet me in that heavenly land;<\/p>\n

And, if Thy will be so, O let me know<\/p>\n

That they are Thine before I hence must go.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
