For thirty-five years he served as pastor for the church meeting at Rye-Lane, Peckham. On Sunday afternoon, October 6, a special service was held at the chapel, during which time the congregation sang a hymn, composed by his wife, in commemoration of his death and celebration of his promotion to glory.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our dearest old friend has now fled to his rest,<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>And no longer is sighing with pain;<\/p>\n<p>That poor worn-out body, now sleeping in dust,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Will never know sorrow again.<\/p>\n<p>He once sowed in tears,\u2014now is reaping in joy,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For Jesus has wiped them away,\u2014<\/p>\n<p>And to fountains of waters is leading him on,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Where bliss cannot yield to decay.<\/p>\n<p>What must be the transport of joy and delight<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To the soul that was fettered so long!<\/p>\n<p>Just bursting the shackles of earth it ascends<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To join in the angelic song.<\/p>\n<p>It cheerfully leaves it poor cumbersome clay<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To slumber awhile in the tomb;<\/p>\n<p>But Jesus ere long will revive it again<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In full immortality&#8217;s bloom.<\/p>\n<p>Like a poor worn-out sailor, he longed for the port;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He had fainted unless he believed,<\/p>\n<p>To see Zion&#8217;s King in His beauty at home,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And his soul to His glory received.<\/p>\n<p>And now safe arrived at the haven of rest,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Where sorrow shall never be known;<\/p>\n<p>Hark! how he is singing with angels above,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>To the Lamb in the midst of the throne:\u2014<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo Thee who hath loved us and washed us from sin,<\/p>\n<p>Be blessing and honour Divine;<\/p>\n<p>And since Thou wast slain to redeem us to God,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All glory and honour be Thine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"simplefavorite-button\" data-postid=\"19189\" data-siteid=\"1\" data-groupid=\"1\" data-favoritecount=\"0\" style=\"box-shadow:none;-webkit-box-shadow:none;-moz-box-shadow:none;\"><div class=\"bookmark-off\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the morning of Tuesday, September 25, 1877, George Moyle passed away from this wilderness to his inheritance above.
