My Joy Fulfilled In Them
For the second time in a few verses the Lord speaks of His imminent departure from this world and anticipates returning to His Father. Our Saviour’s readiness, and we may say happiness, to leave the world is moderated by the needs of His friends whom He will leave behind. In this precious intercessory prayer the Lord Jesus seeks additional ‘hands on’ involvement from the Father for the disciples’ help and protection. By these requests He informs the disciples, and His church, of the Father’s active and ongoing care in the lives of His people.

As The Waters Cover The Sea
It is a beautiful and powerful image which God the Holy Spirit supplies to His church when He tells us, ‘the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea’ (Isaiah 11:9). Who has not stood beside of the ocean and marvelled at the majesty and magnificence of its power? Its breadth, depth, volume, ceaseless tides and crashing energy humbles our mind.

Do these creatures which the prophet saw in his vision represent the ministers of God? I think so. They had wings to fly with, and wings to hide their body; self should always be hid. They had the hands of a man to reach forth to help the needy, struggling soul and lift up the downcast. They had the face of a man, indicating their intelligence; the face of a lion to show their unfaltering courage;
