Reformed Baptists Stumbling Over The Teachings Of Keach And Gill
Peter Masters believes Benjamin Keach and John Gill collapsed the Covenant of Redemption into the “conditional” Covenant of Grace, thereby combining the various components of each covenant into one. Samuel Renihan believes Keach rejected the Covenant of Redemption in favor of the “conditional” Covenant of Grace. I have met Reformed Baptists believing one or the other of these views, some of whom say they derive great benefit, especially from the teachings of Gill.

Noah’s Ark And The Flood
We have in this chapter the Lord instructing Noah to make final preparations for entering the ark, as the rains will begin to fall after seven days. Noah with his family obey the Lord, and on the seventh day are shut into the ark by God. After forty days and forty nights of rain, the waters fill the earth covering the highest mountains. Noah Found Grace In The Eyes Of The Lord
We have in this chapter the Lord's assessment of the wickedness of the human race, together with His pronouncement of judgment. The life and testimony of Noah is singled out as an instance of God's saving grace. Noah was a just man (freely justified by the redemption that is in Christ Jesus); perfect in his generations (living godly in Christ Jesus in the midst of a crooked society); walking with God (enjoying blessed fellowship and communion with the Lord); obedient to the Lord (following the Lord's instructions, even when the adverse circumstances make no sense).

A Catalogue Of Ten Generations
We have in this chapter a catalogue of ten generations, represented by one man per generation, covering a total period of 1,656 years. All ten men were the ancestors of the Messiah. Among them are Jared, the second oldest man in history and father of Enoch; Methuselah, the oldest man in history and son of Enoch; Enoch, the man who lived the shortest time in his generations and did not see death, for God took him immediately to heaven. Although Noah is introduced at the end of the chapter, Enoch is the man who is given prominence, he being a regenerate sinner, walking with the Lord and preaching the gospel of Christ.

I would like to welcome you back to another study in Bible Doctrine. I am pleased to say that we begin this day with the actual content of Gill’s “Body of Divinity”. We are looking at the first thirty chapters, all dealing with the blessed Godhead of the TriUne Jehovah. Of course, I have rearranged these chapters in order to align them with the Framework of Sovereign Grace. These chapters are located on the top right corner of the diagram, next to the TriUne Jehovah, all of which deal with the being, existence and perfections of the Godhead.

Having undertaken to write a System of Theology, or a Body of Doctrinal Divinity; and Theology being nothing else than a speaking of God, or a discoursing concerning him; his nature, names, perfections, and persons; his purposes, providences, ways, works, and word: I shall begin with the Being of God, and the proof and evidence of it; which is the foundation of all religion; for if there is no God, religion is a vain thing; and it matters not neither what we believe, nor what we do; since there is no superior Being to whom we are accountable for either faith or practice.
