This Psalm was written by a man called Asaph. Asaph was a man of many gifts. He was not only a composer of tunes – many of the tunes that were sung to the Psalms that were sung in David’s day were composed by Asaph – but he was also a prophet and a psalmist, as we know from this Psalm. Asaph was God’s mouthpiece at this time. God had a controversy with His people. He had done such great things for them; He had done those things that only God could do for them, but they had shown great ingratitude.
