    Christ Is The Sinner’s Saviour

If the Lord please, I shall leave Chard on Monday next for Yeovil and Salisbury, and agreeable to your, and the friends’ request, hope to be at Hartley-row to preach on the Thursday evening in the following week. As it respects the journey, I have had many opportunities of sowing the seed of the kingdom; and I make no inquiries about, or concerning the reception of it. Paul plants, and Apollos waters, and God giveth the increase. There I leave it I consider that I have nothing further to do with it. June 24—Morning Devotion

"And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden-censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints, upon the golden altar which was before the throne."—Revelation 8:3 My soul, behold this mighty Angel, even thy Jesus, in his priestly office. Go near, my soul, having boldness to enter now into the holiest by the blood of…

It is the message we as needy sinners should demand from our preachers, and which we who are preachers should be determined to declare. Being ‘justified by his grace’ is at the very heart of the gospel message. If we are ‘justified by his grace’ there can be no element of our own works involved.  Gospel preaching is sovereign grace preaching. If a preacher does not preach free, sovereign grace he is not preaching the gospel. Furthermore, if he does not affirm constantly this message he is…

“Strict” The label refers to the doctrine of Close(d) Communion.  1. Churches which open the Lord’s Table to all who profess faith in Christ are called Open Communionists. Technically, however, they also observe a restricted Table since they make as a prerequisite one's profession of faith in Christ.  2. Churches which put further restrictions on the Table are called Close(d) Communionists.  (1) Close Communionists welcome to the Table those who profess faith in Christ and have been baptized; or, those who profess faith Christ, have been baptized and members of churches belonging to the same faith and order.  (2) Closed Communionists welcome to the Table those who are in membership with that particular local church.  Although I believe Closed Communion to be aligned with scripture,…
